This year we’re doing something different:
Were not having a 2 day event this year because we have seen the devastation on the North Shore of Kauai and on the East Shore of the Big Island, and most funds are going there, so we’re going to have an ALL DAY–Triple event instead. Here’s what will be happening:
The Big Day is Saturday November 3rd, and the 1st event that day will be KBA’s supporting and hosting of the Kauai Veterans Parade, and it’s BACK IN KAPAA again. The second Event will be, for want of a better title, A CocoFest Lite, and the third event will be a bigger 1st Saturday Event both in the town center and for the first time ever, in the Kapaa Beach Park if need be, although at sunset the park gates will close and Security will be there till Monday Morning.
Timing For The Day.
1, The Kauai Veterans Parade will begin with everyone gathering in the town streets from around 8:30am and the Parade will start at 9am going through the town center and finishing up in Kapaa Beach park at around Noon, so don’t leave right after because this is an all day event, with crafters and fun for the kids.
2. The CocoFest Lite will be starting as the Vets Parade finishes (around 11am) and will continue until 5pm. As usual you can immerse yourself in all things coconut? There is something for everyone at any Coconut Festival, even a LITE version: entertainment, cultural displays and experiences, shopping, history, games, cooking demonstrations, contests and of course the FOOD.
3.A very special 1st Saturday Event which will overflow from the town center where it’s always hugely popular, into the Kapa`a Beach Park where, on the stage we were hoping to have the very 1st ‘Kauai’s Got Talent’ talent contest but the lead time is too short so we’ll shoot for it for next year. We will have some people who next year may well be contestants for the ‘Kauai’s Got Talent’ show.
We have returning to the Coconut Festival a future Star Jeremiah Garcia who stole the small stage at last years event.
We also have a very Talented Violinist who you may have seen at 1st Saturday events over the year because Kimberly Hope is always there.
We have Goats with Headlamps another island favorite playing in the afternoon.
As a Special surprise we have a strolling Magician walking around the park during the afternoon from 1pm till 5pm.
Each act will play for 30 minutes and then reappear for a reprise performance later in the afternoon. We may have other events added t the lat moment so surprises might still happen before November starts. The whole night will end at 9pm.
This Triple festival event is presented by, “The Kapa’a Business Association” (KBA). It is the association’s most visible single event of the year, but this year we’re trying something NEW, and at the heart of our mission: to promote, preserve and enhance the quality of life and business along the Royal Coconut Coast. We hope that you will take away a new respect for our most revered fruit, a greater understanding of this special area, and happy memories of a fun day, and as the Beatles said in one of their songs –
“A splendid time is guaranteed for all.”
Everything will be happening in Kapa`a Town and Kapa`a Beach Park (next to the Kapaa Library), and although Coconut Festival is usually the 1st Weekend in October, this year the Triple Event will be on November 3rd, from 9am till 9pm, come for the Parade and stay all day, for, great food; fun events; things to wear; and things as gifts, and the chance to support the children from Kauai’s school’s performing on Stage for you. Who know’s maybe we’ll discover the next Kauai Superstar…
Below you will find the Coconut Festival Cooking contest form. Please print it out, read the instructions and then mail it to our Post Office Box address, to arrive no later than October 30th. (P.O. Box 1480, Kapaa, Hi 96746)
